Institutional monthly population reports, 1970-1976.

Monthly reports giving daily population figures for each program and/or correctional facility, including population at beginning of day, admissions during day, total in custody, releases during day, population at end of day, total number of inmates resident at institution, number on leave to other institutions, number on other authorized leave, and number escaped. For certain programs, sheets listing the names of individuals admitted or discharged are attached. Most sheets do not identify the institution by name.

In 1973, the Minnesota Corrections Department began experimenting with an alternative to incarceration for selected property offenders through the opening of the Minnesota Restitution Center, a limited residential program with 22 beds in Minneapolis.
